Call for papers
The Journal of China-Africa Studies is an academic quarterly journal focusing on studies of Africa and China-Africa relations. It is supervised by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), sponsored by the China-Africa Institute (CAI), co-sponsored and published by the Social Sciences Academic Press (SSAP). At the opening ceremony of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) held on September 3, 2018, President Xi Jinping announced that “China decided to establish the China-Africa Institute”, so as to promote people-to-people exchanges and deepen exchanges and mutual learning between Chinese and African civilizations. On April 9, 2019, the China-Africa Institute was officially established in Beijing. On April 9, 2020, the first anniversary of the establishment of the China-Africa Institute, the Journal of China-Africa Studies was officially launched. This journal adheres to the principle of maintaining academic standards and intellectual depth and pursuing innovation and inclusiveness. It mainly publishes high-quality academic articles on studies of Africa and China-Africa relations contributed by scholars from both China and abroad, with columns including Special Contribution, Special Feature, Academic Forum, Academic Reviews and Book Reviews, etc. We welcome your submissions!
I. Topics covered
This journal publishes research papers in the fields of African politics, economy, security, international relations, ethnicity and religion, society and culture, etc., as well as papers on China-Africa relations. This journal welcomes submissions exploring all these topics, and also welcomes papers on priority topics within a certain period. The priority topics for 2023 mainly include:
1. The international significance of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC)
2. Chinese modernization and the common development of China and Africa
3. A new model for human progress and exchanges and mutual learning between Chinese and African civilizations
4. The 10th anniversary of China and Africa jointly building the Belt and Road
5. China-Africa community with a shared future in the new era
6. The Global Development Initiative (GDI) and development issues in Africa
7. The Global Security Initiative (GSI) and security issues in Africa8. International assistance to Africa
II. Instructions for authors
1. Format of manuscripts
The manuscript should be around 8,000~12,000 English words. The main body of the text is to be preceded by an abstract (300 words), key words (3-5) and an author profile (including name, affiliation and title, address, telephone numbers, and e-mail address, etc.).
2. Citations
The submissions should follow the citation guide of this journal. Footnotes are listed at the bottom of the page on which a citation is made, and the footnotes should be renumbered on every page. When you first cite the source in the text, a footnote lists the author, title, place of publication, publication agency, publication date and page number, in that order. For subsequent citations, only the author, the title and page number are listed. It is suggested that works on the website should be cited with due caution. If it is necessary to cite the works on the website, the works should be cited from the official website and the author, tile and URL should be listed. When appearing for the first time, the names of people and places and other proper nouns in their native writing system should be provided in parentheses immediately following a transliterated version unless the translation is conventional and fixed.
3. Other policies
Submissions will be subject to a peer review process. The author, whose paper is accepted and meets the publishing standards, is required to sign a Publication Agreement before the publication. We do not charge any kind of publication fee. Once the submission is published, the author will receive the remuneration for the copy rights and two copies of this journal. It is expected that authors submitting manuscripts to this journal have conducted their work in strict accordance with academic ethics and writing norms. Authors should be solely responsible for their own writing. Duplicate submission is not accepted. Upon receiving the manuscript, we will give feedback to the author within one month. The unpublished manuscripts would not be returned to the author. This journal reserves the right to make appropriate revisions and deletions and technical treatment on the accepted manuscripts. If the author does not agree, please inform us in your submission.
