Foreword
On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, with the joint efforts of China and Africa and the support of people from all walks of life, Journal of China-Africa Studies, China’s first multi-language academic journal, is released.
This is an era of hope. Peace, development, cooperation and mutual benefit have become the common aspirations of human societies. This is also an era of worries. Hegemonism, unilateralism, terrorism, conflicts and wars, imbalances in development, and global governance have become common challenges. The road to world peace and development is still bumpy.
China is the world’s China, and Africa is the world’s Africa. China and Africa together account for a quarter of the world’s land area and one-third of the world’s total population. They are an important constructive force for safeguarding world peace and promoting global development. China and Africa have always been a community of shared future with many ties; friendly exchanges between the two sides have a long history. They have established a deep friendship in the struggles against colonialism and imperialism, and marched forward on the road of achieving common development and great rejuvenation. China’s development cannot be separated from Africa and the world; neither is Africa’s development separable from China and the world. China’s and Africa’s developments are opportunities for each other, and are related to world peace and prosperity.
In view of this, President Xi Jinping announced at the Beijing summit of the China- Africa Cooperation Forum in 2018 that China-Africa Institute will be established to promote cultural exchanges and deepen mutual understandings. As the journal of China- Africa Institute, the publication of

Institute, the publication of the Journal of China-Africa Studies is at the right time.

Adhering to the principles of academic quality, innovation and openness, the journal will publish high-quality academic papers on Africa studies, China studies, and China- Africa relations by scholars from all over the world. The Chinese, English and French editions will be published simultaneously at home and abroad. The journal is dedicated to promoting outstanding academic works, facilitating academic exchanges, reflecting new academic trends; assisting the construction of an academic discourse system in China and Africa, serving the steady progress of China-Africa relations, and contributing to the common development of China and Africa, as well as to the construction of the community of shared future of China and Africa.

Standing on a new historical starting point, Journal of China-Africa Studies will be based in China and Africa and look at the world. It will keep abreast of the pulse of the times and explore the academic frontier. Bearing in mind the beginning of the heart, it will make efforts to become a first-class international academic journal.
