The Center for African Laws of IWAAS was founded on August 3, 2020 with the approval of  Bureau of Scientific Research Management of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS).

The center is committed to strengthening studies in African laws and China-Africa legal exchanges and cooperation, as well as providing legal safeguards for people-to-people exchanges and business exchanges between China and Africa.  

Director of the Center for African Laws is Zhu Weidong, a research fellow of IWAAS.
