On January 7, 2025 local time, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister Wang Yi gave an interview to the press after meeting with President of the Republic of the Congo Denis Sassou Nguesso in Brazzaville.

When asked about how China and Africa jointly address climate change, Wang Yi said that President Denis Sassou Nguesso is deeply concerned about the issue of climate change, reflecting the foresight and vision of African leaders. China has always supported Africa in achieving green development. The installed capacity of photovoltaic power stations jointly built by China and Africa has exceeded 1.5 gigawatts, lighting up numerous homes in Africa. President Xi Jinping proposed that China and Africa should jointly advance modernization that is eco-friendly. This is the common goal of China and Africa and one of the important tasks of this visit.

China will effectively implement the China-Africa Partnership Action for Green Development and work with African countries to carry out the clean energy projects proposed at the Beijing Summit, build the "Africa Solar Belt", and help Africa truly embark on the path of green and low-carbon development. China will work hand in hand with Africa to promote international climate governance. Upholding the principle of equity, common but differentiated responsibilities, China calls on developed countries to face up to their historical responsibilities, earnestly fulfill their obligations, and provide financial, technical and capacity-building support to developing countries, especially African nations.
