On the morning of Nov.18, 2023, the CAI delegation met with Wu Jie, Chinese ambassador to Cote d'Ivoire. In the afternoon, the delegation had a meeting with scholars from China R&D Center, Cote d'Ivoire (Centre Ivoiro-Chinois pour la Recherche et le Développement , CICRD).

Ambassador Wu Jie introduced the political and economic situation of Cote d'Ivoire as well as China-Cote d'Ivoire relations. Professor Wang Xiaoming made a presentation about the 17th China Lecture that was planned to be held in Nigeria, Cote d'Ivoire and Sierra Leone. Wang Yijie, head of the Political Section, Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Republic of Cote d'Ivoire attended the meeting.

At the meeting in CICRD, Dr. Coulibaly K. Salifou, assistant professor of Economics made an introduction of the center and the African scholars. He said that many young students from Cote d'Ivoire and other Francophone African countries went to China to study, and the two countries have forged agreements on mutual recognition of higher education degrees. He said, more than 50 Ivoirian scholars who have studied in China are now teaching at universities in Cote d'Ivoire.

There are a total of 20 members in CICRD, 19 of them have studied in China. They are titled professor, associate professor or assistant professor, teaching different subjects at universities in Cote d'Ivoire. The center is committed to conduct studies of China, China-Cote d'Ivoire relations, and China-Africa relations. The CICRD scholars said that they hoped to strengthen communication with Chinese scholars in interdisciplinary studies and learn from China’s experience.

The scholars asked questions such as how to work with the CAI to carry out researches, and how to publish articles on Chinese academic journals. The CAI delegation made detailed answers to each question.

After the meeting, professor Wang Xiaoming presented a bamboo slip as a gift to the center. Dr. Ahouman Z, Rolan, assistant professor at Université Virtuelle de Cote d’lvoire took over the gift.
