Introduction
The Institute of African Studies at the School of Foreign Languages in the University of International Relations, officially established in 2013, is a physical entity of African regional and country-specific studies. Based on China's current policy toward Africa and its overall development strategy, the institute focuses on the history, politics, society and culture of African countries, especially Francophone countries of Africa, and studies the relations between China and Africa, France and Africa, as well as other European and American countries and Africa, with a view to providing theoretical guidance, academic analysis and consultancy services for China's policy toward Africa, cultural exchanges between China and Africa, and non-governmental economic and trade exchanges.
The main body of the researchers consists of the teachers of the Department of French Language of the University of International Relations. The institute hires professionals from the Department of International Politics, the Department of International Economics, the Department of Culture and Communication, and the Department of Law, as well as off-campus professionals in African studies as part-time researchers to form an interdisciplinary research team. It also hires well-known experts with high reputation, outstanding academic achievements, and concerns and support for African research as consultants, and hires professionals worldwide with rich experience and knowledge of African local conditions as guest researchers.
