Courageous valiant Chinese people, you will overcome the epidemic

BY MR AMADOU DIOP

I learned with great emotion, when I had just left the country just a few weeks earlier, the news of the appearance of the coronavirus in China. And I followed it very closely because I felt deeply linked to this country where I had just spent ten months. It was my longest time abroad so far. This country has brought me a lot in terms of new experiences and interesting discoveries.

The news then shook me, especially with regard to the development of the epidemic thereafter. This is an opportunity for me to express my total compassion for the families of the victims and my deepest encouragement for the Chinese government and people. You are not alone in what strikes you. We pray daily to God to get you out of this epidemic. I can already congratulate myself on the bravery, colossal efforts and high sense of responsibility of the Chinese government and the thoroughness and discipline of its people who spare no effort to get out of the epidemic. These people have once again demonstrated to the rest of the world, their resilience and their ability to adapt to various phenomena, given the number of people affected by the epidemic in relation to the density and mobility of their population.

China is a standing state that deserves all the necessary encouragement and support, but not all kinds of stigma. It could have happened to anyone else. Hence the imperative need to show solidarity with China, which is part of a dynamic of sharing prosperity with the rest of the world. What is certain for me is that China will conquer the epidemic and it will always remain standing. I know that you learned from the test and that it also taught you many things. And as we say, it is in difficult times that we know the true friend. Our prayers are with you, great people in solidarity!
