The world is paying close attention to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) in China. The Chinese government has been working meticulously around the clock to find the cure for the virus, reduce the spread of the virus and offer sporadic healthcare measures to contain it around the globe. One remarkable effort of the Chinese government in combatting the spread of the virus was the building of a hospital with a capacity of 1,000 beds within nine days to handle coronavirus patients.

Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari said “China’s efforts to contain the spread of the coronavirus have been exemplary, as well as the country’s collaboration with international agencies and other countries on the matter. He also said that it is only a matter of time “before this nightmare passes.”

Nigeria’s relationship with China dates years back and both countries had been partners in development, trade, commerce, political, military and even in disaster relief measures. It’s no surprise that Nigeria supports China in its epidemic outbreak and offers condolences to the country. One would recall that when Ebola ravaged Africa, China was there to dispatch public health experts to many African countries to help prevent the spread of the disease. China has been there for Africa, now Africa is here for China.
