A Delegation from IWAAS Paid an Academic Visit to Djibouti

  A delegation from the Institute of West-Asian and African Studies (IWAAS) led by Professor Yang Guang, carried out academic exchange in Djibouti from January 20 to 22, 2019.  During its visit, the delegation had extensive communications with local officials as well as scholars, and made field visits to several programs which had been carried out under the “Belt and Road Initiative”.

  On January 20-21, the delegation attended the China-Djibouti Seminar on the “Belt and Road Initiative”, in which Mohammad Ali Hassan, Deputy Foreign Minister of Djibouti, Moussa, Principle of Djibouti Institute of Diplomatic Studies, Abdirashid, counselor of the Djiboutian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Zhuo Ruisheng, Chinese Ambassador to Djibouti, participated. During the seminar, scholars from IWAAS had extensive and thorough discussions with officials and scholars from the Djiboutian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Central Bank, Ministry of Budget and Debt, International Investment Promotion Bureau, Port & Free Trade Zone Authority, and University of Djibouti etc.. The seminar was reported by the Djibouti Television.

  During the visit, the delegation made field researches on some China-Djibouti Cooperation programs including China-Djibouti Free Trade Zone, Djibouti Multi-purpose Port, Djibouti Container Wharf, an industrial park, the Touchroad Special Economic Zone and a program which was being constructed by China Jiangsu International. Besides, the delegation called on Zhuo Ruisheng, Chinese Ambassador to Djibouti.

  Other members of the delegation were Professor Tang Zhichao, Professor Cheng Hong and Associate Professor Chen Mo.
