IWAAS Researcher Attended the 2018 African Security Forum
Invited by Altantis, a Morocco think tank, Dr. Meng Jin attended the African Security Forum in Rabat, the capital of Morocco, during November 21 to 24, 2018. Over 300 officials, delegates of think tanks and heads of enterprises participated in the forum, and the topic of which was “Redefining the Main Thread of International Cooperation When Facing Threats of the 21st Century”. Li Li, Chinese Ambassador to Morocco, was present at the opening ceremony. Participants introduced and analyzed kinds, characters and tendencies of security threats that the African continent as well as key conflict-affected areas was facing. They believed that cross-border organized crimes, reintegration of military personnel into society and the spread of radical information in social media were main security problems had been threatening the African continent. To resolve regional and international conflicts, participants appealed to establish and strengthen bilateral, regional as well as international multi-platform cooperation, and analyze problems in a comprehensive and interdisciplinary way. Dr. Meng actively participated in the discussions.
