  The Historical Evolution of the Russia Factors in U.S.-Africa Relations

  Abastract: The Russia factors have deep influence in U.S.-Africa relations. During the Cold War, the Unites States of America lunched a competitive war against Soviet Union in Africa for sphere of influence. The end of the cold war meant great changes of the Russia factors in U.S.-Africa relations. The Russia factors conceded as it carried out the back Africa policy. However, The Russia factors pose a big problem again to the White House due to Russia’s accelerating steps into Africa in recent years. As a result, the Trump administration making a new Africa strategy in terms of the great power’s challenges in Africa. In general, although the White House adjusts its Africa policy according to the Russia factors in different international circumstances, in fact, it is not always useful to achieve the goals of USA in Africa. On the contrary, it is harmful to Africa peace and prosperity and often becomes a dangerous factor for the great power rivalry in many cases.
