Abstract:
The presence of Chinese media in Africa has grown dramatically under multiple backgrounds, which is not only the need of China-Africa economic cooperation, and an imperative need to show the real Africa, but also a way to end misunderstandings about China in Africa. Judging from the history of China's media engagement in Africa, it is be obvious that Chinese media has developed rapidly in Africa: the official media, such as the Xinhua News Agency, CRI, CCTV, China Daily, have entered into the African market and made enormous contributions while private media, such as Star Times are also actively exploring the African market.Together they have preliminarily built up a diversified and three-dimensional media landscape in Africa combining both official media and private media. Chinese media's engagement in Africa not only expands the African media landscape in terms of new increment and new space, but more importantly, brings about news perspectives and narratives distinguished from Western media coverage, which can exert a more profound influence on African media and African people.
